Dynamic Drought Monitoring Using MODIS Product

The MODIS Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI) has obviously improved its linearity with vegetation in different cover,it is better to indicate the characteristics of vegetation cover.In this paper,the MODIS land surface temperature product(MYD11A2) and vegetation index(MYD13A2) product were used to establish EVI-Ts space.A simplified Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index(TVDI) from EVI-Ts space was presented to evaluate agriculture drought in Guangxi,located in southern China,from the middle ten days of September to the middle ten days of November in 2006.Based on the information of TVDI,the agricultural drought in Guangxi was analyzed.It was found that the TVDI from the EVI-Ts space can effectively indicate the spatial distribution and temporal evolution of drought,and the area of drought in Guangxi was evidently increasing during the middle ten days of September to the middle ten days of November in 2006.
