Correlation Study on Spatial Pattern of Land Use and Topography in Zhuhai City

This study aimed at revealing the effect of topographic factors on spatial pattern of land use.Based on Landsat TM remote sensing image in 2008 and topographic map,the spatial pattern of land use and the relationship between land use and topography in Zhuhai City were analyzed by creating DEM,altitude classification,slope classification and overlay analyzing.The results showed that:spatial distribution of land use types showed obvious regional differences in Zhuhai.There were different land use types associated with different altitudes and slope gradients.The area of every land use type at low latitudes and slope regions was absolutely more than that of higher region.As the rise of altitude and slope,the types and the diversification of land use showed a gradual decreasing tendency.Water body was main land use type at locations below 40 m and 2°,while woodland became the advantage of dominant land use type became more and more obvious at locations above 40 m and 2°.The land use showed the greatest fragmentation at the elevation interval of 40~100 m and the slope gradient of 2°~5°where were strongly interfered by human activities.In addition,the land use also had a higher degree of fragmentation at locations above 35°,which showed the natural factors had a restraining effect on spatial pattern of land use at the unobvious human factor area of high slope.Three-dimensional landform landscape map was more intuitive to describe the relationship between land use spatial pattern and topography and also could confirm the complex effect of human activities on land use disturbance in the different altitude and slope ranges,which provided reference for optimization of land use structure,land development and consolidation and sustainable utilization of land resources.
