Summary and Prospects for the Valley & Drainage Evolution of the Shigu-Yibin Section of the Jinsha River

LI Hua-yong,MING Qing-zhong(School of Tourism & Geography Science,Yunnan Normal University,Kunming 650092;Yunnan Provincial Key Laboratory of Plateau Geographic Process and Environment Changes,Kunming 650092,China)
In this paper, the progress of the valley formation and evolution of the section from Shigu to Yibin of Jinsha River since late Pliocene was described based on the analysis to the researches on the Jinsha River over the past century. The basic point is that, there were several parallel rivers flowed southward in the area before the late Pliocene;numerous lakes emerged and well developed between late Pliocene and early Pleistocene;the paleo-Jinsha River flowed through Shigu and Lijiang-Heqing Basin, pouring into ancient Xigeda Lake at Jinjiangjie in the middle early-Pleistocene;the downstream Jinsha River connected by a serious of river capture and the ancient Xigeda Lake disappeared in the late early Pleistocene, then the paleo-Jinsha River started to flow eastward. At the end of middle-Pleistocene,because of the strong upheaval along Jianchuan-Heqing-Yongsheng-Huaping-Dukou-Luoxue,Lijiang-Heqing Basin was cut into three basins(Lashi,Lijiang and Heqing Basin),then the old Jinsha River flowed northward along with the watercourse of Shuiluo River and converged with Chuan River at Sanjiangkou, till that time formed the modern Jinsha River.
