Research Review on the Morphology of Karst Fenglin and Fengcong Landforms

Fenglin and Fengcong landforms are the most typical Karst landforms because of their terrain morphology and geomorphologic characteristics.The research of Karst morphology is the basis of Karst landforms studies.Referring to the relevant literatures at home and abroad,this paper comprehensively discussed the concept,connotation,morphological features and different expressions of the Fenglin and Fengcong landforms.Also,the development of studies on the morphology of Fenglin and Fengcong landforms was summarized.It is known that the research on Fenglin and Fengcong landform morphology has developed from qualitative description to quantitative analysis,from simple morphology and statistical analysis to fractal analysis.Besides,with the development of multi-source and high-resolution data,the analytical methods based on spatial analysis of GIS and DEM have developed for analyzing the morphological features of Fenglin and Fengcong landforms.In recent years,the high-resolution Digital Elevation Model(DEM)data as well as DEM-based digital terrain analysis theories and methods have been formulated and perfected,which have created favorable conditions for the research of Fenglin and Fengcong landform morphological features.Based on the summarization of research processes and technical methods of studies on Fenglin and Fengcong landform morphology,the shortcomings of the existing quantitative research methods have been pointed out,and prospects of the study on the morphology of Karst Fenglin and Fengcong have been made.In addition,this paper puts forward the development direction and critical problems that need to be solved in the future research on Fenglin and Fengcong landforms and the key problems to be studied urgently.
