The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 and its Enlightenments to China

The U.S. energy strategy has undergone tremendous changes since the new administration took office. On June 26, 2009, the House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, which aims to reduce America’s foreign oil dependency, decrease greenhouse gas emissions and stimulate the economic recovery. This paper introduces the background and the main contents of the Act, and puts forward recommendations in promoting the clean energy development in China.
