The Agroecology Research Based on Water Use --Condoling with Prof. Huang Bingwei upon His Death of Full First Anniversary

YU Hu ning, LIU Chang ming (Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research,CAS, Beijing 100101 China)
The paper summarizes theoretical origin and methodological characteristics of Huang Bingwei's academic ideas on research of Agroecology based on water use. There is a reminiscence of him, who used every effort to achieve objectives. Even in the end of 70's of the 20th century, the main research results of under field at two agroecological experimental stations in Beijing and Luancheng, Hebei province, Chinese Academy of Sciences, were original: some micrometeorological techniques and methods for the study of energy transfer and matter exchange in agroecosystems; water transfer and its forcing functions; relationship between stomata actions and environmental factors; dynamic simulation and mathematical model of crop ecological processes; instantaneous value on water use efficiency and light use efficiency of crop community; leaf water potential and canopy temperature and stomata properties discriminating soil water deficiency; the mechanism of crop water stress and its application, etc.. Those researches took striking development in several fields. Research work on water use within agroecological system will be the scientific basis for carrying out water saving agriculture and dry land agriculture and further instructing the production practice. It is of the theoretical and practical significance for saving water and increasing crop yield in agriculture and alleviating the present water deficiency in the North China Plain.
