Wavelet Analysis of Climatic Change Recorded in Guliya Ice Core in the Last Two Millennia

Mu1ti-timescale oscillating features of δ18 O and glacia1 accumulation are approached by using waveletanalysis technique. We found that the warming of recent l00 years is only one of normal fluctuations under thebackground of the last l700 years on inter-decadal time-sca1e. On century time-scale, however, the recent l00years warming is the strongest, the three cold stages of the Litt1e Ice Age occurred remarkably, but the Medi-eva1 Warm Period didn' t take p1ace. On the combination of temperature and precipitation, all four climatic typessuch as warm-wet, warm-dry, cold-wet and co1d-dry appeared whether on inter-decadal or on century and mi1-Iennium time scales. In addition, on the century time-scale, around the 800's A. D. was one key transition pe-riod of climatic change, the climate before the period was characterized by warm-dry and cold-wet type andwarm-wet and cold-dry after the period. With the transition of climatic condition, the 200a Period or so changedtoo. Its power was not Obvious before the 800's but very strong afterwards with 95 % confidence level.
