Discovery of the Nanshatao Binary Structure and Its Study Significance

In the field investigation, the authors discovered that a group of sediments, which is named Nanshatao binary structure according to the discovering place, are located on the highest terrace in the mouth of the Three Gorges at Nanshatao village, Honghu, Zhicheng, Hubei Province. The relative age is decided as Q 1. The authors thinks that this group sediment can be employed to decide the age and mode of the cutting through and run through of the Yangtze River, and also to decide the age and mode of the Neotectonic movement, the formation genesis and the forming environment of the reticulated soil in this region.
