Scattering of Seismic Waves at Irregular Topographies by Boundary Element Method

A numerical approach is presented to study the scattering of SH, P and SV seismic waves at canyons of arbitrary shapes by means of Boundary Element Method or Boundary and Finite Element Hybrid Method.The influences of incident angles of seismic waves and the shapes of topographies on the strong ground motion are investigated. The comparisons between the numerical fesults obtained by authors and those by other researchers are given.Satisfactory agreements are achieved.
