Biosorption of aqueous soluble dyes and Cr(Ⅵ) by bacterial cellular polymers

Adsorption characteristics and the mechanism of aqueous soluble dyes and Cr(Ⅵ) were investigated by bacterial cellular polymers WJ I from a Pseudomonas sp .. It is found that pH and Ca 2+ concentration show considerable influence on biosorption of the dyes, with the optimum conditions of pH7 and [Ca 2+ ]=8.0 g/L, respectively; the maximum adsorption rate for Cr(Ⅵ) at pH2 reaches 98%; Freundlich model and chelating mechanism are fit for Cr(Ⅵ) adsorption and bridging model for aqueous soluble dyes.
