Choice of slit-type bucket parameters and estimation of scour hole depth

Based on the theoretical analyses, the representations for determining the parameters as the contraction ratio of the width and the deflections of the side walls and the bottom of the slit-type bucket are obtained. The calculated results of some engineering casually chosen by these representations are coincident with the designed parameters based on the hydraulic models. An empirical representation for estimating the scour hole depth caused by the flood-relief with the slit-type bucket is also given. The comparisons show that the results of calculations are consistent with those of some experiments in the literatures on the whole.
