Using genetic algorithm to generate non homomorphic topological pattern for layout optimization

A genetic algorithm for layout topological pattern transformation is presented. It provides an efficient procedure to construct non homomorphic topological patterns for layout optimization, which is advantageous in approaching the global optimal solution or obtaining a better local optimum. The theory and implementation of this method are detailed. Numerical examples are illustrated for solving the layout optimization of objects installed on a rotating table, i.e. a packing problem with equilibrium behavioural constraints. The optimal solution has been obtained, which is better than that shown in the previously published literature. It is worthy of mentioned that the optimizations for different non homomorphic patterns can be carried out simultaneously. It is shown that this method is particularly adaptive for parralled computation.
