Automatic FE mesh generation based on quadtree method

Yang Mingsheng, Zhang Lijing ( Res. Inst. of Eng. Mechanics, Dalian Univ. of Technol., China )  
An automatic meshing scheme based on the modified quadtree method and concentrated on the processing of boundaries in the planar domain is discussed. The generation of all triangular mesh, all quadrilateral mesh and mixed mesh for planar structures is elaborated. Then a large class of 3D hexahedral mesh generation tasks can readily be completed by using translating technology from 2D surface mesh.
