An On-line Reactive Power Optimization Method for Electric Power Systems

The paper compares primal-dual interior point and genetic algorithm. The two methods are representative and different in reactive power optimization. Advantage and disadvantage in astringency, computational speed and disposal for discrete variable are analyzed .It proposes a new method which combines advantages of the former methods. The proposed method has been applied to IEEE 30-bus system. The test results show that this method is feasible and practical.
