Optimal Location of TCSC Based on PSO

The particle swarm optimization(PSO) technique is applied to find the optimal location of TCSC with maximum system load ability and minimum cost of installation of TCSC.In the mathematical model of the method,line flowlimits andbus voltage limitsare takenasconstraints to obtain moreprecise results.This algorithm is applied to IEEE 6-bus system.Results show that the maximum system load ability increases nearly by 14%.Compared with the GA algorithm,the PSO algorithm has the better search capability and higher degree of convergence for finding the optimal location of TCSC.
