Simulation Study on Control Characteristics of TCC and TCR Controlled Series Compensation

LIU Jiang-hua, CAO Ji-feng (Tianshengqiao Bureau, EHV Power Transmission Co., China Southern Power Grid, Xingyi 562400, China)  
TCR is adopted now in China for the controlled series compensation, which can solve many technical problems in long distance power transmission, but the new technical problem with it is also fairly stressed, such as the serious non-linearity of control characteristics, parallel resonance over-voltage, serious overload of capacity current, very limited control scope under phase control condition etc.. Based on overall summary of TCR control mode and control characteristics, the paper studied the controlled series compensation technology of TCC mode, which can realize the direct and continuous adjustment of series compensation degree through direct control of condenser. It is entire to realize the continuous adjustment of controlled capacitive reactance in whole working area, to enlarge the working area of controlled series compensation substantially, and to rise the series compensation degree.
