The catalysis of iodine was discussed in detail in the synthesis of aluminium isopropoxide. The iodine at first reacts with aluminium to produce AlI3,AlI3then reacts with isopropanol to form aluminium isopropoxide and HI,HI at last react with aluminium to produce AlI3and H2.The influence of the iodine and isopropanol quantities on the process is also compared. The appropriate ratio of the raw materials is summarized.
