HOW TO TRANSFORM COORDINATES OF POINTS FROM ONE KIND OF MAP PROJECTION TO ANOTHER

Wu Zhongxing
The article presents two methods for deriving coordinates formulae for protective points, which are quite necessary for compiling computing programs when one kind of map projection, by computer operation, is transformed into another. One method is to calculate points' geographical coordinates φ,λ from the planimetric rectangular corrdinates of the original projection points x, y. Substituting φ, λ into the new projection system, planimetric rectangular coordinates X, Y of the new map projection points as well as coordinates formulae for the two kinds of projection points are obtained, i. e., X = F1 (x, y) Y = F2 (x, y) Another method is to establish a direct correlation between the points at the map data and their corresponding ones at the newly compiled map. It needs not eliminate geographical coordinates $, K of the original map projection. Relations between the rectangular coordinatesφ,λ of these two kinds of projection points can be derived directly from the formulae.
