An improved method for reactive power pricing

GONG Yan-ping (Huizhou Power Supply Bureau, Guangdong Power Grid Company, Huizhou 516001, China)  
A new algorithm is derived to determine contributions of individual load to line power flow. On the basis of analyzing the composition of reactive power production cost, firstly, the reactive power production cost is allocated to each line in the power grid based on the theory of marginal cost. Secondly, the reactive cost that has been allocated to each line is reallocated to each load based on the usage of individual load to line reactive power flow, thus the reactive production cost and corresponding reactive power price of each load can be obtained. The proposed method considers the coupling between active and reactive powers and needs neither assumption nor simplification when computing the using portion of branches by each load. The proposed method can ensure the revenue and expenditure in balance and provide effective economic signals to users. Simulation results show that the proposed method is rational and effective.
