A NOVEL ALGORITHM FOR OPTIMAL DISPATCH OF ACTIVE POWER IN HYDROTHERMAL POWER SYSTEMS USING MULTIPLIER METHOD

This paper presents an algorithm based on the multiplier method in NLP for short-term real power optimal dispatch in integrated power systems with fixed head hydroelectric plants. The successful introduction of this method avoids difficulties of convergence often encountered in algorithms based on equal incremental cost principle.The algorithm prepared by this method is much better than those by penalty functions, for the former requires much less computer storage, converges rapidly and handles constraints effectively.
