A NEW LINEAR APPROACH TO THE OPTIMIZATION OF REACTIVE COMPENSATION PLANNING IN LARGE POWER SYSTEMS

In linear algorithm field the well-known sensitivity method has been so far widcly used in the solution of optimal reactive compensation in power systems both at home and aboard. In fact, beginning with the analyses of operations research we can see that the sensitivity method is only a zigzag one and complicates the calculation. A new linear approach is presented according to the principle of P-Q decomposition and the characteristics of optimal reactive power control.The simpler and easier method has been successfully in trial calculation of two examples (6-node, 14-node). A schedule of optimal var compensation has been put forward for an real 220kv systems (135-node, 3 ,800 Ml) after thc programming was run for eight normal operating modes and four contingent ones. It is available for real-time control of system voltage and reactive power.
