GENETIC ALGORITHM FOR THE OPTIMAL MULTISTAGE TRANSMISSION NETWORK PLANNING

Optimal multistage transmission network planning is a large-scale nonlinear combinatorial optimization problem. This paper presents an application of GA to the optimal multistage planning of transmission network and develops the mathematical model. The chromosome coding method and adaption function are presented. The simulated annealing approach is adopted for calculation. The test results of a sample system have demonstrated the practicableness and effectiveness of the suggested GA-based multistage transmission network planning. The convergence characteristic of the proposed algorithm is also discussed in this paper.
