AN ON-LINE TRANSIENT STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM OF LARGE POWER SYSTEMS

The development of modern power networks highlights the problem of stability. and the adaptability of on-linestability control systems is essential to the secure and economic operation of large power systems. This paper presents an online transient stability control system trial-produced by Nanjing Automation Research institute. which is the world's firstsystem that integrates a unique technique for the quantitative analysis of general motion stability into an object orienteddistributed parallel processing platform and a regional stability control device. The system follows the current power systemoperating point. performs on-line stability calculation for a specified set of fault scenarios by using the stability marginprovided by EEAC in order to obtain control decisions which make the system sufficiently stable at the minimum lost. andthen Periodically refreshes the decision table stored in the control device. Therefore the system is adaptive to the developmentand change of operation of power systems. The use of EEAC for the fast quantitative analysis of stability in the system is aleading-edge technology in power system stability control.
