RESEARCH ON CHARACTERISTICS OF TCSC DEVICE BASEDON TRANSIENT STABILITY CONTROL

Several important dynamic characteristics of EHV TCSC related to transient stability control of power system arestudied by use of digital simulations and physical experiments. This paper analyzes the impacts of synchronous signals andcontrol modes on TCSC dynamic behavior. presents and realizes a new working mode of TCSC device. namely hard block andbypass operation patterns. It also introduces a practical two-stage method for smooth transition of TCSC between capacitiveand inductive regions, and proposes a control strategy to avoid TCSC device out of control as well as to decrease the DCcomponent across the series capacitor.
