DISCRETE WAVELET TRANSFORM AND ITSAPPLICATION TO COMPRESSION OF SIGNAL OF FAULT INDUCED TRANSIENT TRAVELLING WAVESON TRANSM ISSION LINES

With the view point of engineering, this paper describes the basic characteristics of wavelets and som e concerned algorithm s for construction of com pactly supported orthogonalw avelet bases and realization of discrete w avelet transform s (DWT). After that, the discrete w avelet transform based approach is applied to com pression of signal of fault induced transienttravelling w aves on transm ission lines. To search an adaptive and optim alschem e for the signalcom pression, the varieties of the com pression ratio and reconstruction error with the increase of the com pression scale are studied.
