SOME PROBLEMS IN THE RESEARCH OF POWER SYSTEMS COLLAPSE PREVENTION

Yang Weidong, Xu Zheng, Han Zhenxiang (Zhejiang University, Hangzhou 310027. China)  
With emphasis on the difficulties and special issues involved in the research of power systems collapse prevention. several suggestions for the research are proposed in this paper. They consist of needs for further stability mechanism research, causes and control strategies of cascaded outages, a systematical method for the research of power systems collapse prevention, improvement on adaptation of control strategies and its combination with optimization methods, requirements for DC supply to AC system under emergency condition. dynamic monitoring of power systems, full use of real-time information. etc. The necessity is also pointed out for fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control to the control systems of some key parts of power systems, transient stability control based on local information, application of new type electronic facilities to improve power system stability performance and so forth.
