NONLINEAR ROBUST CONTROL DESIGN FOR POWER SYSTEM INCLUDING SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETIC ENERGY STORAGE DEVICES

Recently the development of power electronics and superconducting technology m ade it possible that superconducting m agnetic energy storage SMES took part in the power system as FACTS devices to enhance transient stability. In this paper,a second order robust m odel of SMES is established first according to the experim ental results of SMES prototype. Then the nonlinear robust model of the single- m achine infinite- bus power system including SMES is obtained.Furthermore,the paper presents a procedure to obtain the nonlinear robust control law of SMES based on feedback linearization theory. The simulation results illustrate that the nonlinear robust controller can restore the system after large disturbance rapidly and improve the transient stability lim its of the system,thus increasing the capacity of transm itting power.
