This paper presents a new accurate algorithm for locating fault pointof HV transm ission line using unsynchronized data of two- term inal.Based on the distributed parameters,this algorithm utilizes searching and iteration methods to locate the fault point according to the distributed regularity of voltage along the transmission line when fault occurs. This algorithm can elim inate the influence of the fault resistances and it needn' t resolve the com plicated equation of long line and can be realized easily,so it has a very practical value. The sim ulation result of EMTP shows that it has high accuracy even at low sampled rate.
