A TRUST REGION INTERIOR POINT METHOD BASED OPTIMAL POWER FLOW ALGORITHM

Optimal power flow (OPF) is an ideal tool for solving many problems, such as spot pricing, congestion management, and available transfer capability calculation, in an electricity market. This paper presents a novel algorithm for the OPF problem based on a trust region method. The algorithm successively solves linear programming subproblems. Linear step size is adjusted by using the trust region method. A primal dual interior point method with multiple centrality corrections is applied to solving the linear programming subproblems. To improve the stability of the OPF algorithm, a physical strategy is used. Numerical results of a power system of 662 buses show that the algorithm is fast and robust, suitable to real time applications.
