DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF RECONFIGURABLE HARDWARE PLATFORM BASED ON SOC DESIGN FOR DIGITAL PROTECTIVE RELAY

The SOC design methodologies are based on IP reuse and hardware/software co design. platform based SOC design methodology is a method of configuring architectural components as well as VCs through parameterization that minimizes or eliminates the need for manual modification. A reconfigurable Hardware Platform Based on SOC Design for Digital Protective Relay is presented. It combines the FPGA and the Flash MCU and related interface circuit. Because of the reconfigurability of FPGA, not only the protection algorithm blocks and communication blocks, but also the architectural components can be reconfigured. What's more, the Flash MCU supports program on line. So, this platform is very flexible for new digital protective relay development. As examples, this paper presents three typical configuration cases of this platform, it's application ranging from fundamental over current protection to power transformer transient protection algorithm based on wavelet transform.
