A novel algorithm for distribution system restoration named candidate restoring tree cutting is presented, which restore the de-energized devices by cutting candidate restoring trees instead of combining of breakers. This algorithm fully exploits the radial structure of de-energized network and can easily keep the structure of radial network. A approximate method is adapted to solve capacity and voltage constraints,and the burden of load flow calculation in restoring decreases dramatically. This algorithm also can restore the network with multiple outage zones efficiently. A three phase power flow program is used in this paper, so the restoration method also concerns the characters of unbalanced system.
