A DYNAMICS-BASED METHOD FOR VOLTAGE SAGS DETECTION

In order to meet the real time requirements, a new method for detection of voltage sags is presented, which is based on the Dynamics. The Dynamics algorithm can detect all the extreme of the signal and compute these dynamics quickly. As the Dynamics of distortion point are vast different from that of the peak or valley point, the suggested method can detect the distortion point effectively. The measurements of voltage sags caused by the large motor starting, transformer energizing and three-phase-ground fault are analyzed by the new method. The results show that the method can accurately detect voltage sags, and is feasible and effective.
