A NEW SENSITIVITY METHOD FOR STATIC STABILITY PREVENTIVE CONTROL

Based on a contingency parameterization continuation power flow tool for investigating the nonlinear effects of the multiple contingency parameter variation, a new sensitivity analysis method for static stability preventive control in power system is proposed. Severe multiple compound contingencies can result in the immediate instability in a real power system. There is a virtual static stability critical point corresponding to each insecure contingency in the contingency parameter space. A new index called contingency unstable margin is proposed for evaluating the severity of the insecure contingencies. Based on this index, a new sensitivity method is proposed and the linear sensitivities of the contingency unstable margin with respect to any control variables are given. A control strategy based on the sensitivities and the control type priority for preventing the unstable multiple compound contingencies is also proposed. Case studies with a practical 3 000-bus power system indicate that the proposed methods are effective and suitable for preventive control in a large-scale power system.
