Extended Time Petri Net Applied in Action Logic Simulation of Protection and Automation Equipment in DTS

The simulation of protection and automation equipment is very important for dispatcher training simulator (DTS) . Due to the difficulty to describe the action processes of protection sets, the poor reusability of software and the heavy developing workload, often unsatisfactory performance is obtained when conventional methods are used. Though the discrete events can be modeled through Petri net, how to put it into practice is still a problem to be solved. The method of modeling the action processes of protection relaying is proposed based on the extended time Petri net (ETPN) . The data structure and the principle algorithms as well as the simulation flows of protection and automation equipment using ETPN are discussed. Results of an example demonstrate that ETPN is an effective method in describing the action logic of the devices terse to improve the efficiency in developing simulator.
