Hybrid Algorithm for Real-time Security Constrained Dispatch of Power System

A hybrid algorithm for real-time security constrained dispatch (SCD) of power system is proposed. The algorithm makes full use of the advantages of both the sensitivity based equal and opposite quantities in pairs analysis method and nonlinear primal-dual interior point method. Furthermore, a closed-loop-control system, which combines SCD with automatic generation control (AGC), is also presented to cope with overload of transmission lines of power system. The remedial control strategy given by SCD is implemented automatically through AGC to eliminate overload of transmission lines. The algorithm has been implemented in the energy management system (EMS) for the power system in Jiangsu Province. The results show that the algorithm can satisfy the real-time SCD demand and effectively limit the active power of transmission line, within the permitted area so as to ensure the security and stability of power system.
