Deterministic and Probabilistic Approaches in Transient Stability Studies

This paper begins with a simple discuss of weaknesses in using deterministic approach for performing transient stability analysis. Then the probabilistic transient stability assessment is introduced with focus on the probabilistic factors and modeling. Such other issues as the simulation tools and existing indices are also described based on relevant literatures. Finally, a systemic comparison between deterministic and probabilistic approaches in transient stability studies is given.
