Frequency Accident Analysis in East China Grid Due to DC Line Fault

This paper describes the system frequency drop accident in East China Grid resulting from large-capacity power shortage due to Long-Zheng DC line fault. As the primary frequency regulations of the generators analyzed, simulation computations for the post-fault system are conducted to investigate the system frequency characteristics. The necessities of various frequency control measures such as primary frequency regulation, AGC (automation generation control) and CPS (control performance standard), are summarized. Further suggestions are presented for frequency management in East China Grid.
