A Novel Type of Power Fault Recording and Monitoring System

At present, power system interconnection and market competition has brought new challenges to the safety and stability of power system operation. In the event a large-scale and long-duration fault occurs in the interconnected system, the power fault recording and monitoring system (PFRMS) should be able to meet the requirements of fault analysis. This paper describes a program of the novel-type PFRMS. By using a reliable embedded-hardware and software platform, the system’s reliability and anti-jamming capabilities are improved in an all-round way: the synchronous sampling technology with GPS-embedded clock setting provides a basic platform for the wide area and synchronous measurement system and ensures large-scale fault analysis; the automatic frequency tracking and synchronization phasor measurement technology can effectively guarantee the accuracy of data acquisition and processing in a wide range; the high accuracy location technology can commendably adapt to the ranging error due to the variation of line parameters. The system realizes consecutive recording over a long period of time and uniform analysis of the steady, dynamic and transient data, providing reliable data sources for analysis of the ultra-long, large-scale and developing fault.
