A New Type of Backup Protective System in Wide Area Network Based on Data Network

Based on an analysis of the limitations of traditional relay protection, the background and current development of wide-area protection is discussed and the characteristics, composition, classification and structure of its functions are studied. Based on a 220 kV transmission power network under the jurisdiction of Luoyang Power Supply Company, a new type of wide-area backup protective system based on the data network is proposed. The hardware and software design of the wide-area backup protective system is described and its significance, basic principle and protection algorithm are given. Dynamic experiments and field trial operations have verified the feasibility and validity of the scheme proposed.
