ADAPTIVE IMPEDANCE RELAY OF BOwL SHAPE

Adaptive impedance relay of bowl shape has been put forward in this paper,on thebasis of detailed analyses of circular and quadrilateral impedance relays,which can stand hightransition resistance by means of expanding operation zone of traditional MHO relay.It ischaracterized by simple criterion,fast operation,mature technique. easy setting,good phaseselection. distinct directionality.accurate distance measurment.high security in heavy load andeasy to realize adaption. Simulating calculation and pratical test have verified the analyses. The BOWL relay has been applied in microprocessor-based distance protection developed by ourinstitute.
