Research on the circuit performance of GPON

LI Zhi-qiang,ZHANG Wen-hui(Optoelectronic Engineering College,Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications,Nanjing 210003,China)  
As the latest access network technology,the GPON has the advantages of high efficiency,high-speed rate,low cost and supporting all service. By introducing GEM encapsulation mode on the basis of APON,GPON can effectively transmit not only ATM service but also IP service.This paper introduces some key technologies about GPON,such as configuration,frame,ranging and DBA etc.and analyzes the circuit efficiency based on them.By consulting the simulation results,it points out that the circuit utilization can be increased greatly by using GPON access network technology.
