The Reflection on the Dilemma of Upgrading the Local Industrial Groups in China in the Context of Global Value Chains

Zhang Jiemiao
The fact shows that the participation in the global value chains helps to break through the low level of local industrial groups in China to upgrade industries. However,in the development of export-oriented industries which make profits in division of labor, many domestic industries, such as textile and garment industry, has formed a capture-style led by cross-border purchasing agents and therefore has been firmly locked in low value-added processing and manufacturing sector, which is the source of the deterioration of local industrial groups in China.Eliminating the barricade of business upgrading is centered on the efforts to develop high-level elements, enhance the technical capabilities and use an appropriate upgrading path.
