Configuration Scheme of SVC Under the Condition of Branch Outage

Voltage collapse usually results from system contingencies.Under the condition of branch outage,in order to prevent voltage collapse,branch participation factor method is used to determne the cirtical branches,then a new method is proposed to find the optimal installation location and the optimal number of static var compenstor(SVC).The method considers the probability of the contingencies and a new index is defined which can be used to determine the weak buses.Based on the new index the optimal installation location and the optimal number of SVC can be determined.Case studies on the IEEE14-bus test system demonstrate the correctness of this method proposed in this paper.
