New Approach of Fault Section Location in Distribution Network with DG

The distributed network with DG make the establishment of switch function and judgment matrix extremely complex and affect the efficiency and accuracy of fault location when traditional optimization algorithms are applied to locate the fault points. A novel mathematical model for distributed network with DG based on relay and circuit breaker information when faults occurred was presented. Changes in the distribution network protection configuration and logical relationship have been taken fully considered after the DG was accessed and the mathematical expression of DG was added in the traditional fault estimation mathematical model. Compensation factors were multiplied in the objective function. Non-uniqueness of fault location result was overcome when main and backup protect refuse operating. Selection and accuracy of fault location was improved by new objective function. Single and multiple fault of distributed network with DG can be located accurately. The validity and accuracy are confirmed by example analysis.
