Quantitative analysis of time correction in substation automation system based on GPS

The time correction error of substation clock synchronization, the clock precision of automation equipment and the time correction interval are quantitatively analyzed. Combined with the working processes of time correction by using pulse signal and serial communication, the time correction precisions are obtained. It is pointed out that the clock distinguishability and precision should be determined by the minimal SOE (Sequence Of Events) distinguishability required by the system. It is found that the clock precision of automation equipment influences the time precision rather than the time correction precision. So the time correction interval has the determinant effect on the clock synchronization, the calculative formula of which is presented.
