Coordination between rotor angle stability and out-of-step protection based on WAMS

Aiming at the malfunction of generator out-of-step protection,the coordination control between rotor angle stability and out-of-step protection based on WAMS(Wide Area Measurement System) is presented,the stability criterion of which has two parts: the local protection signal and the online prediction of transient stability based on WAMS.The coordination control is done by a central server:if the protective signal of local protection comes first,it sends the trip command;if the online predicted transient stability signal comes first,it sends the protection block command;if the online predicted transient instability signal comes first,it initiates the optimal emergency control according to generator rotor angle trajectory.The simulative results for the New England test system prove its validity and rationality.
