The Peony Pavilion in the perspective of women in Ming and Qing Dynasties

When the characters in the play fail to get what they want in real life,they can satisfy themselves in dreams;when the audience fail to do what they hope in reality,they turn to artistic works.The fact The Peony Pavilion was very popular among women audience in the Ming and the Qing Dynasties reflects,on the subconscious level,their desire of relieving themselves in such daydream-like works from the heavy burden of reality.
