Synthesis and Adsorption Properties of Chitosan Modified by Pyruvic Acid

Chitosan functional polymer containing schiff base group was synthesized by chemical modification of amino group of chitosan with pyruvic acid. The synthesis conditions were optimized by orthogonal test method. The adsorption properties of PCTS for Cu(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ) were also investigated. The results show that the percentage of removing low concentration metal ions are 100%,99 8%,40 5%,respectively. In comparison with chitosan and chitosan modified by salicylaldehyde, the solvencies and adsorption properties are improved.
