Experimental Study on Seismic Control and Energy Dissipation of RC Frame Structures

In order to improve the seismic behavior of RC frame structures, a new type of energy dissipation frames is proposed based on the principle of structural control. In this paper, two new types of energy dissipation devices were designed. Seven RC frames, including four frames with energy dissipation devices and three common frames, were tested under cyclic reversed loads for comparison. The failure mode and hysteresis behavior were studied. The results show that the RC frame structures with energy dissipation devices have excellent aseismatic behaviors and can be widely used in constructions.
