Study on large-scale and high efficient transformation system mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens of cotton

Transformation system mediated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens of more than 10 cotton cultivating varieties of China were established after systematic improvement on their methods and conquest on genotype-dependent. Among the varieties, transformation cycle of CCRI24 was 5~7 months and the transformation rate reached to 8.1%, CCRI24 had became our transformation module material in our experiments. Other varieties, such as CCRI27 and CCRI36, were also founded their transformation systems. The callus induction rates and the embryo induction rates of different varieties were varied from 10% to 40%.The mean transformation rate is 1.8%. Identification of transgenic plants was systemized in our study. 2000~4000 transgenic plants could be obtained per year, it suggested that large-scale and high efficient transformation system has been succeeded in China.
